At the May 28, 2010 commencement ceremony of the Gloucester County Fire Academy, five members of the Deptford Fire Department received their certificates of completion from the Spring 2010 Firefighter 1 course.
Those completing their training are:
FF. Richard Derr, Jeff Sheppard, Lester Spickler, Steve Risley - Battalion 3
FF. Adam Abernathy - Battalion 4
A special congratulations to FF Adam Abernathy on being the recipient of the Vern Evans Award, as voted by the members of his graduating class as the most dedicated and caring of fellow students, pride in the performance of his duties. This award is named in honor of a former instructor and originator of the academy. A special congratulations was given to these graduates at the June 2, 2010 Board of Fire Commission Meeting.
We're sure that these new members will serve the department and the residents of Deptford Twp. well as they begin their service to the community and their fire service education!.
