FIRE DEPARTMENT

   

   
The Deptford Fire Department is a combination department serving Deptford Township in Gloucester County, New Jersey, approximately eight miles southeast of Philadelphia, PA.

The department is comprised of 4 Battalions, currently operating out of eight fire stations.  The eight volunteer fire companies are supplemented by 21 career personnel, including the Chief of Department and Fire Marshal's Office.

The department is governed by a Board of Fire Commissioners, which provides funding for the township fire district through taxation. We have achieved a Public Protection Rating of "3" from the Insurance Services Office (ISO).

With a land area of 17.3 square miles. Deptford Township has a resident population of approximately 30,000 and a daytime commerce and commuter population of over 100,000.  Its diverse demography consists of residential complexes, rural areas, industrial areas and commercial districts, including several major shopping centers. 

In 2007, the department responded to 1,647 calls for assistance. This is a 6% increase in activity over 2006.

Since 2001, we have seen a 57.6% increase in response activity with no sign of it letting up in the foreseeable future.
